ALUMINUM WINDOWS
Aluminum Windows are a complete sash system intended to provide a framing system for single lites of glass. Glass of various thicknesses (3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8" and 1") may be glazed into the standard system simply by changing the glass stops and/or the gaskets. The gaskets employed are the same high-quality gaskets developed for standard storefront systems by YKK AP and are therefore readily available. Conventional anodized aluminum finishes are known for their beauty and durability. To provide corrosion resistance, the porous anodic film is subjected to hot water or steam sealing; however, aqueous seals cannot completely close every pore of the porous anodic layer. But YKK AP goes one step further. Their Anodized Plus® surface treatment features an anodized finish with an electrostatic clear coating that completely seals the anodic film and greatly enhances resistance to damage from mortar, alkali and other chemicals likely to come in contact with the framing system over the life of the building. The composite coating combines the features of an anodized surface with the corrosion and chemical resistance of an organic coating. The colors available are white, clear, champagne, medium bronze, dark bronze and black in a matte finish. Color consistency and uniformity is assured by the patented vertical anodizing process.
